OVERVIEW

SkateSphere Magazine is a conceptual freelance project designed to refine my typography skills and explore creative editorial design. The magazine captures the essence of skateboarding culture, emphasizing authenticity, inclusivity, and community. This fictional publication serves as a platform for skaters to connect, share stories, and celebrate their unique lifestyle.

TYPOGRAPHY FOCUS

The project allowed me to experiment with a variety of typefaces to achieve different visual tones.
Through careful selection and application, I created mastheads, headings, and subheadings that balance readability with aesthetic appeal:
• 8th Cargo: A strong, industrial sans-serif for bold mastheads.
• Ageya: A distinctive and artistic typeface to create memorable masthead designs.
• Bebas Neue & Mercado: Ideal for impactful headings with a modern aesthetic.
• Manrope & Poppins Bold: Clean and balanced subheadings that enhance readability.

MY ROLE

As the Lead Designer, I was responsible for every aspect of the project, from conceptualization to execution. My role included: • Developing the campaign idea and editorial concept. • Exploring and applying typography to create compelling layouts. • Crafting a design rationale to justify typeface choices and their alignment with the project’s vision.

OUTCOME

The project not only brightened my typography skills but also expanded my understanding of how type, layout, and design principles can work together to communicate a culture and brand identity effectively.
